Is a vehicle inspection mandatory for VTC drivers on Allocab?

Yes. A technical inspection (contrôle technique) is a legal requirement for any vehicle used in VTC operations.
It ensures that the vehicle is in perfect working order and complies with all safety standards set by French regulations.

When should the inspection be done?

  • New vehicle: the first inspection must take place one year after the registration date.
  • Used vehicle newly assigned to VTC activity: the inspection must be carried out immediately if no inspection has been done since the vehicle’s registration.
  • Renewal: the inspection must be repeated every year, without exception.

What does the VTC inspection include?

The VTC inspection follows the same process as a standard vehicle inspection but with stricter frequency and compliance checks.

It includes the review of 133 inspection points divided into 9 main categories:
braking, steering, visibility, lighting, equipment, bodywork, pollution, and more.

At the end of the inspection, an official report is issued, indicating whether the vehicle is compliant or requires a follow-up inspection.

Where to carry out the inspection?

The inspection must be performed at an officially approved testing center.
You can find the list of authorized centers through a local search or on the French government’s official website.

In case of non-compliance or delay

  • The vehicle cannot be used for VTC operations.
  • You risk a fine and vehicle immobilization.
  • On the Allocab platform, your driver account may be suspended until compliance is restored.
